If there was one thing Gibbs hated more than anything else in the world if was his first name.

Leroy.

Ever since he had found out that his parents had saddled him with that, he had insisted (and he had made a pretty insistent four-year-old) that he would use his middle name, Jethro.

Which, granted, was not the best in the world, but yet? Still so much better than Leroy.

After his parent's death and he'd joined the Marines, only his wives and girlfriends had ever called him Jethro.

Everyone else called him Gibbs, or Gunny.

That was much better.
