Summary: Daniel gets a surprise when Janet returns home
Category: Daniel/Janet fluff, future fic
Author's Notes: In honour of Teryl's pretty new hair (which she wouldn't have been able to get away with if they'd not killed her off) and the fact that I'm bored with my hair and am debating over cutting it off or dying it. Or quite possibly both.
Daniel couldn’t help but stare at his wife.
"Anything happen while I was out?" she called as she busied herself in the hall, removing her coat and shoes and shuffling through the post lying on the table.
"Uh…" His mouth opened and closed a couple of times. "Uh, Sam called, wanting to know if you were busy Saturday night. And Cass wants her allowance increased."
"I hope you told her no," Janet remarked, moving through to the kitchen. "She's got plenty enough to keep her going and she needs to learn that we're not made of money."
"Uh, something along those lines, yes," he said, rising from the sofa and following her.
"Good, good," she said, bustling around and putting the kettle on. "Did you want anything?"
He was still staring at her.
She turned to get a mug and paused, noticing the almost stunned expression on his face. "What? Is there anything the matter?"
"You're... you're blonde!" he exclaimed.
Janet subconsciously moved her hand to her hair. "I said I was going to the hairdressers," she said. "Were you not listening?"
"I was listening," he protested. "I just expected that you were getting it cut, or something."
"Well, I did," she said, her eyes scanning his face. "I just got it coloured as well while I was there."
"It's blonde."
She looked worried. "You don't like it?"
"No, no, no, I didn't say that," he assured her quickly. He stepped forward and traced his fingers through her hair. "You look beautiful… it looks good on you."
She pouted at him. "You're not just saying that because you know I can hurt you?"
He leant down to drop a short, sweet kiss on her pouting lips. "I'm not just saying that," he said. "I was just surprised for a minute. My wife leaves me as a brunette, and comes back as a blonde. Is there any reason for the change?"
She smiled impishly up at him and shrugged. "I was bored."
